About Friends of Music
Who Are We?
New Orleans Friends of Music has been bringing the finest chamber musicians in the world to our community since 1955. In addition to a full season of public concerts at Dixon Hall, in partnership with Tulane University, NOFOM provides training and music education activities for both artists and audiences.
A volunteer-led organization, NOFOM supports the full range of chamber music repertoire through performances and commissions, curates educational activities that encourage all ages to appreciate the art form, and showcases exceptional emerging chamber musicians.
Plan Your Visit
Venue
Unless otherwise stated, concerts take place at Dixon Hall on the uptown campus of Tulane University.
We encourage patrons to arrive early as parking is limited on and around campus. Free parking for Friends of Music performances is available in the Diboll parking lot on Willow Street, and a shuttle is provided before and after the concert.
Education & Outreach
Education for music lovers and musicians of all ages is a key part of New Orleans Friends of Music programming!
Our guest artists regularly visit local classrooms, present masterclasses and lectures, and participate in artist residency activities with schools and community organizations.
We are pleased to partner with Lyrica Baroque and the University of New Orleans annually to present NOLA Chamber Fest, a growing competition for student and emerging chamber music ensembles.
